Each person trained at Gordon Salon has an extensive knowledge of their field. Our rigorous training programs ensure that we have the best stylists in all of Chicagoland. As one of thirteen Intercoiffure Members in Illinois, we take pride in the fact that all of our hair designers receive expert training in both cut and color. As a fourth generation hair stylist, beauty is truly in Tony’s blood. It began with his great grandmother who was a wigmaker for the Chicago Lyric Opera. His grandmother was a principal of the American Beauty Academy in Chicago, founder of Elizabeth Gordon Hair Designs in Hyde Park and is considered to be one of the top colorists of her time. His father, Jerry Gordon, owns J. Gordon Salon in Chicago and was recognized as the 1990 Hair Salon Owner of the Year. His sister, Katherine Gordon, is a hairdresser in New York and Los Angeles and has worked with numerous celebrities on films and television.

Tony and Pam Gordon founded Gordon Salon in 1999. Upon opening their first location, Gordon in Ravinia, they felt they were answering a prevalent problem with most salons of that time. “One thing that I saw as a beginning salon owner was a lack of hair designer training. That was the cause for a high attrition rate among hair designers throughout the profession. It saddened me that so many people failed to realize their dreams of becoming successful stylists. We created a training program that addressed those issues,” stated Tony. Since the opening of the first location, Tony and Pam have gone on to open 3 other locations, Gordon Salon in Lakeview, Gordon Salon in Highland Park, and Gordon Salon in Wilmette.

It is our goal at Gordon Salon that every guest walks out the door feeling nothing less than amazed. We are willing to go above and beyond to make this happen, each and every time you visit. If you are not satisfied with your hair, we are happy to redo it, at no cost to you, or give you an in-store credit for a future service. We are also able to give you a full service refund equivalent to the value of the service.  However, please be aware that any requests for a redo service must be made within two weeks of the initial service. 

The business reserves the right to refuse services to individuals when the situation requires at the business’ discretion.


Our Highland Park and Chicago hair salons are located in high-traffic areas. Please give yourself a few extra minutes to park. For parking suggestions at individual locations, click on Lakeview or Highland Park for additional information – or call the salon and we’ll be happy to help.

Appointment Cancellation

We ask guests to give 24 hours notice when canceling or rescheduling an appointment.  This advanced notice allows our stylists to fill their schedules efficiently.  There is a $10 fee charged if the appointment is cancelled or rescheduled with less than 24 hours notice.

Appointment Confirmation

Because we recognize the value of your time and ours, we will contact you 48 hours in advance to confirm your appointment. Please provide us with a phone number that is the best way to reach you when you make your appointment.

Returned Checks

Returned checks will be charged a $30 fee, without exception.

Returned Merchandise

Any products or merchandise accompanied by the original receipt can be returned as long as the product is still half full and returned within a year of purchase. Purchases made with a debit or credit card can be credited back to the original card. Unfortunately, we cannot give cash back. Purchases made with cash or check can only be returned for store credit.


As a family-friendly salon, we welcome children to receive haircuts in the salons. We suggest that you do not bring children if you are receiving a chemical process of any type. Please be aware that hot irons, open blade razors, and other hazards exist in the salons.

Cell phones

Please turn off your cell phones when entering our salons and spas to maintain our serene environment.


For the comfort and safety of all our guests, please do not bring pets into our salons and spas. However, service dogs are welcome at any time.


At Gordon Salon we take the education of our employees very seriously. While working here you will receive extensive, hands on training in many areas. The health, well being, and happiness of our employees is very important to us. As part of our training, we educate you on the fundamentals of working smart. Our goal is to empower each employee so that they may have long, prosperous, and fulfilling careers.

We begin with shorter shifts, especially for our stylists and spa staff. Since eight-hour days are both physically and psychologically grueling, we’ve shorted these shifts to 6 hours to ensure you stay healthy. We focus heavily on ergonomics, teaching you how to stand and how to hold equipment properly – to ensure your body can withstand the rigors of the job. Our goal is to empower our employees to have a long, rewarding, fulfilling careers.

For all employees, a positive attitude, ingrained work ethic and polished appearance are a must. Knowledge of Aveda is a plus.

Salon Coordinators

Our hair salon coordinators offer the first and last impression to our guests. We’re looking for friendly, organized, customer-service oriented people to ensure our clients are thrilled with their experience. We welcome employees with special skills, such as graphic design, videography, photography, and copywriting – and will find ways to help you utilize your talents. All salon coordinators will receive training in retail skills, makeup, product knowledge, inventory management, computer operations and more.


At our salons, our stylists are experts at both cut and color. We’re looking for stylists with superb technical skills and an engaging demeanor. All our stylists begin at our salon as assistants and then move onto the floor as stylists after completing our Advanced Training Program.


At our Highland Park and Chicago locations, our estheticians are passionate about pampering and believe in a holistic approach to skincare. You must have a talent for hair removal, facials and other body treatments, as well as a soothing demeanor.

Qualifications: Esthetics license and two years of experience required, along with high school diploma or GED. Aveda experience preferred.

Salon Management

Our salon managers keep Gordon Salon running. We’re looking for salon managers who are highly motivated, are able to easily multitask and have a knack for mentoring. From managing employees to revenue setting and overseeing inventory, our salon managers are passionate about satisfied customers, beauty, and getting results.

Qualifications: Previous salon experience required. Management experience, excellent customer service and outstanding communication skills are a must.
