Earth Month Fundraising Success

Posted on May 9, 2013 by Gordon Beauty Blogger

Gordon Salon is ecstatic to report that we surpassed our Earth Month goal to raise $8,250 during April for Alliance for the Great Lakes.  We collectively, at our three locations, raised $9,625!  We had so much fun as we cut, blowdryed, styled and workshopped our way towards raising money for this great cause.  Thank you to all who donated money or time to our fundraiser.

THE EARTH MONTH FASHION SHOW

On April 27th, we held our last big Earth Month event: a fashion show showcasing gorgeous summer hair and makeup trends alongside classic and smart fashions from Mott 50, a local sun-protective clothing line.

Gordon stylists, makeup artists and team members worked hard for weeks planning the event and working behind the scenes the night of the show.

Head stylists Michelle and Holly created gorgeous beachy looks including fun twists, tousled waves and sleek updos.  Jen Kohler from Aveda and Stephanie Smith from Alliance for the Great Lakes shared how we can help support clean water both locally and worldwide.

Fun, bright accessories completed the looks and were loaned to us from Francesca’s in Highland Park.

Jessica Gordon, an intern at Mott 50 and one of our own wonderful Gordon team members, coordinated efforts with Mott 50 and worked behind the scenes with many others to ensure the models were fitted correctly before walking the runway.

Monique Moore from Mott 50 described how their clothing is not just fashionable, but smart.  Each item had a UPF rating of 50 and protects wearers from sun damage.  Also, 20% of the Mott 50 clothing sales from the evening was donated to Alliance for the Great Lakes!

We had a fabulous time putting on this fashion show and it turned out to be a great success helping us surpass our fundraising goal.

Thank you all for helping us raise money for clean water.
