Outrageous NYFW Looks

Sure, there are a million and one new trends that popped up in New York City this past week that we are dying to try out. But there are also some looks that made us question what was going on in the minds of some of this years creative directors…
First and foremost is the excessively pierced eyebrows at Rodarte. A simple off-centered hoop can be pulled off by some daring trendsetters, but we think any more than that is moving into the deep crevices of the grunge trend that should remain in the dark. We’re not sure how this next-level look can be translated into an every day, or even every other day, trend- so were just going to leave it be.
Another out-there look are the Miley-style buns that took a faux-hawk shape on models’ heads at the Marc by Marc Jacobs show. This hairstyle is totally appropriate for the brand, but who is actually going to tie their hair into four twisted top knots for a night out? The answer is unclear. We love the idea of a top knot, but four seems like a little too much for an every day look.
Marc Jacobs hit the runway again with another questionable ‘do. This time, it was a shaggy bowl cut. Some people can definitely pull this off but not many. We know the hair and makeup, or no makeup in this case (yes, bare-faced models strutted the runway), is meant to make a statement and ultimately emphasize the clothing, But we just can’t get over these stark cuts. Thankfully, they were done on wigs.
If Courtney Love’s wedding had its own runway show, it would be the Betsey Johnson Spring 2015 Collection. Maybe not the clothes, but the makeup definitely qualifies for this punk rock, morning-after look. The lips were glossy red, and the eyes were lined in a thick, black smear. The look isn’t bad, but it’s a little off-putting. We’re not sure if we would replicate this exact style. It could come off a bit strong on some people. But we do love the statement it made on the runway!
