You’ve heard the saying before, “New Year, New Me!” Around this time of the year, we hairstylists see a lot of guests asking for something different, something fresher, unique to the same-ole same-ole a guest has been getting! With trends changing constantly, you might feel overwhelmed with where to start and don’t quite know what is buzzing around in the world of hair. Well, you are in luck because we are here to help at Gordon Salon! Take a look at some exciting trends that we are ushering into 2025 and maybe you’d like to try one of these for yourself!
Midlength Hair
Hair past the collar bone, swooping past your features in an elegant framing of the face is something that is classic and chic. Some may call it “Mom Bob” but I feel this 90’s cut does so much to bring out the face, highlighting your neck and shoulders. It’s an effortless, layered look with movement and volume. The haircut can be styled straight, curly, wavy — you name it! It is an almost universally flattering cut that looks good on almost everyone. Aubrey Plaza, Margot Robbie, and Jennifer Anniston continue to look gorgeous by rocking this super stunning style.

Brunette & Darker Blondes
Pantone’s Color of the Year for 2025 is Pantone “17-1230” or Mocha Mousse. It is an understated brown with warmth, and balance, described as “sophisticated and lush, yet an unpretentious classic”. I believe that this year we will see rich, luscious brunettes and blondes toning down the brightness of their hair. Shiny, rich bronde (brunette-blonde) have been creeping up the trend charts for the past few years. One-color hair with not a lot of dimension is on trend for 2025. Ariana Grande has traded in her milky blonde from being Galinda in the moview Wicked to a soft, complimentary bronde at the 2025 Golden Globes. Demi Moore and Zoe Saldana have made me want to switch over to the dark side of the haircolor spectrum with their gorgeous, luxurious brown tendrils.

Au Naturale
In 2025, we are craving ease, simplicity, and uniqueness. What is more unique than being yourself? Nothing! You are the most unique, beautiful, fun, and talented person and your hair should embrace that! With lots happening all around us in this modern world, simple and low-maintenance styles and cuts have been requested more times than not! Embrace your wave, your curl, your cowlick, heck– even your bedhead! Life is hard enough, your hair shouldn’t be one of those things. Two celebrities I think do a wonderful job of the au naturale movement would be Meryl Streep and Cynthia Erivo. Cynthia Erivo looks stunning, embracing her beautiful, natural features and Meryl Streep is gracefully aging like fine wine.

Boyish Crop
The long, flowing hair of the 70s will be a staple in the hairstyling world, however very reminiscent of the 1920s shift, when more feminine people were shedding their long hair for “boyish crops”. Bobs and close-cropped hair have been very trendy, but recently, textured, highly chopped cuts are making a comeback. From the runaways to the streets to the salons, this look has been a very sought-after cut and style. More and more celebrities are losing their extensions and cutting their hair. Zendaya, Selena Gomez, Cate Blancett, and Emma Stone are all sporting short and sassy boyish cropped hair at the moment.

Middle Part Masculine Cut
Opposite of the boyish crop for more feminine presenting people, longer, shaggier hair is in for the more masculine presenting people! A middle part is in for the gents! With longer hair on the top, and shorter on the sides and the back, you are sure to make hearts throb with this classic cut. Personally, I believe this haircut looks the best on wavy to curly hair types. Made famous in the 90s by the likes of Leonardo DiCaprio, Johnny Depp, and Brad Pitt, the heroes of the silver screens knew a thing or two about their flowing middle-parted locks.
