The past few years have been difficult for a multitude of reasons. It’s easy to get bogged down, especially with all of the craziness and change happening in our ever-evolving world. You may find yourself racing to the end of the year — mentally and physically—(cue visual finish line here) resulting in burn-out. And so, I encourage you to REFLECT, RESET and SET GOALS now while you’re taking shelter from the cold.
Reflecting is such a great way to see how many things you’ve accomplished this past year: it can be personal or work-related. I recommend that when you feel as though you might be at a lull or need some motivation; that you can use this as a tactic to encourage yourself, no matter the time of year!
Resetting is the hardest thing on my New Year’s to-do list. I can make lists and reflect no problem, but resetting and trying to create little habits is hard. Resetting is hard because people often do really well in the beginning, then something throws off the groove and people stop cold turkey. That all changes in 2023! It takes around fourteen days to create and stick to habits. Another creative thing you can do is make a vision board— whether that’s a physical board or using an app like Pinterest. This sets the mood or tone at the beginning of the year you want to strive to achieve. Get inspired and creative and curate a little space of things that are going to be meaningful in 2023!
Goal setting is super fun for me, but I am a list person. Recently, we had a mini class by Alexis (director of operations) and Ashley (front desk operations manager) about goal setting and being productive. A helpful tip they’ve taught us is to give yourself a reward at the end of a big task or giant to-do list, like a new haircut or beauty product you’ve been wanting to try. Another thing that’s helpful is starting with the hardest task first, that way you don’t feel so much anxiety leading up to the other smaller, easier tasks. Group your goals into small, attainable goals. Do not get discouraged if you cannot do everything in one day. Rome wasn’t built in a day and neither can some tasks be accomplished in a single day.
2023 is going to be a fantastic year! I just wanted to remind you to take care of YOU, do things for YOU, especially things that make YOU happy. This is YOUR year; I can’t wait to see what you do with it.
