This month’s spotlight belongs to Dawn, one of our Emerging Artists in Lakeshore East. After coming to the realization that she needed to be part of the of the beauty industry, Dawn attended the Aveda Institute in Chicago. She’s been doing hair since October 2019, joining the Gordon Salon team in November 2020. We couldn’t be more thrilled to have her as a part of our team.
“It was my love for fashion and beauty that brought me to the realization that I needed to be a part of the industry. Even thinking back my childhood, I was playing with my doll’s hair any chance I could – day or night.”
Outside of the salon, Dawn is a wife and mother to two teenagers, one of whom just started the college application process. Fellow parents can easily imagine how busy she can be! In her free time she loves to have date nights with her husband of 23 years.
Her favorite part of the beginning of her career and education was the excitement and anticipation. Every day brought something new to learn – a new technique or product to try. That excitement still follows her to this point in her career, being on the floor in our Lakeshore East location. Each guest is a new experience, a new conversation, a new transformation!
While she doesn’t have a favorite service to perform – she loves them all – Dawn definitely has a love for seeing the finished product come together. The process of doing someone’s hair could be considered an intimate event, lots of trust from the client to the stylist. The final product coming together and the client’s hair dream being realized is certainly something Dawn looks forward to.
The support from her family keeps her going on those harder days. Having the support from them since the start of her career in the beauty industry is a constant boost when she needs it. The team at Lakeshore East has become an extension of that familial support. The atmosphere that everyone curates together is incredibly inspiring.
With everyone’s support behind her, Dawn looks forward to continue building her business, clientele, & brand within Gordon Salons.
